JapShow Finale 2017 Report

Showcasing power, performance and perfection, JapShow showcased the fastest and finest ensemble of automobiles from Japan.

The weather wasn’t on our side first thing but that didn’t stop you die hard Jap fans flocking to the Pod for a day celebrating all that Japanese manufacturers have to offer! It was a feast for the eyes; from the Pairing Lanes to the Show Paddock, Club Displays to Live Action arena, everywhere you looked these legendary icons tantalized our taste buds from modified classics to peak performance masters.

The Autoglym Show & Shine Competition over in the Show Paddock presented a stunning and varied congregation of Japanese beauties. A huge thank you and well done to all who entered; despite the clouds and the rain you guys relentlessly polished that paintwork and buffed those wheels! After many turns around the paddock, I’m sure you’ll agree, the judges decided the winners were as follows:

The ¼ mile showcased some exciting and intense competition with the FWD Drag Series. Paul Atkinson went into the final round of the 2017 FWD Drag Series 60 points behind Kiel Priestman. After the rain enforced 1 shot qualifier that deficit was 20 points and when Kiel went out in round 1, Paul took the championship with the round 1 win. Luke Pritchard beat Paul in the final after running multiple PBs along the way.

Nothing quite compares to the sight and sound of a jet vehicle fire up on the start line. Jet legend, Martin Hill, gave us a masterclass in power and speed with FireForce 5 The Jet Dragster; this record-breaking flame thrower tore down the strip in an astonishing 5.3474 seconds at a mind-blowing 276.37mph!

New for 2017, the Live Action Arena this year played host to Round 5 of the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint, an exciting mix of drag racing and drifting where driver skill and precision were the name of the game. Well done to all that took part.

We would like to say a big thank you to all those hardy clubs for attending - we marveled at the pristine machinery on display – see you next year!

We would like to thank everyone who attended JapShow Finale 2017 and from all the Santa Pod team, we hope you had a great day. We hope to see you all next year as we kick off the show season with The Fast Show 15th April 2018 – watch this space!
