JapShow Finale 2018 Report

The trouble with weather forecasting is that it’s right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it! Despite a wet and windy start to the day, come the afternoon it was blue skies and sunshine! Dedicated to showcasing power, performance and perfection, we witnessed an exhilarating line up of Japans fastest and finest masterpieces. The Show Paddock, Club Displays, FWD Drag Series and RWYB presented some legendary machines in true Jap style.

The Show Paddock hosted the Autoglym Show & Shine Competition, displaying some fantastic high-spec vehicles making it difficult for the judges to decide. These fantastic machines are really worth admiring, the winners were as follows:

FWD DRAG SERIES
It was all to play for as JapShow Finale hosted the final round of the FWD Drag Series. Round 5 saw some very close competition with Phil Reeves taking #1 qualifier with a 9.46 @ 155.22mph. It was neck and neck, Honda vs Ford between Dan Frost and Phil Reeves in the semifinal with just 0.02 of a second between them – Dan won the race but unfortunately crashed in the shutdown area putting an end to his final appearance; Allan Duthie had a bye run due to Paul Atkinson breaking on his qualifier. In an unpredictable turn of events, Allan went on to win Round 5 with another bye run, 10.58 @ 144.84mph. Well done Allan. A massive congratulations to Phil Reeves for winning the 2018 Championship and well done to Runner up Dan Frost.

The Live Action Arena left us as astounded as ever with stunt extraordinaires Lee Bowers and Team Maximum Lock, on top form with their breath-taking displays, as well as insane drifting and burning rubber galore over in our drift arena. Not forgetting the Fireforce Jet Funny Car tearing down the ¼ mile in an incredible 5.25 seconds at 230mph!

From all of us here at Santa Pod, we would like to thank everyone who attended JapShow Finale 2018, we hope you had a brilliant day!
